What is Block Bits: Wood Workshop?

Block Bits is a free, no-timer wood block puzzle played on an eight-by-eight workshop board. Place all three visible carved pieces, complete rows or columns to clear them, and preserve space for the next tray. Endless adds deterministic Grain Goals, Daily Workshop gives everyone the same UTC sequence, and 30 fixed Challenges offer short proof-tested boards with one undo.

How to play Block Bits: Wood Workshop

  1. Drag a carved piece onto the board, or tap a piece and then a valid cell.
  2. Use keys 1–3 to select a tray piece, move its anchor with the arrow keys, and press Enter to place it.
  3. Choose Endless, the UTC Daily Workshop, or one of 30 deterministic Challenges from the mode bar.

Tips

  • Check all three tray pieces before committing the largest cut to a corner.
  • An intersection clears its completed row and column together and advances intersection Grain Goals.
  • Challenge hints follow the verified solution path; the single undo restores the exact state before your last move.

What to notice on your first run

There is no falling timer, so every decision is about preserving future placements rather than reacting under pressure. The tray remains visible as a group of three. Carved symbols distinguish the four wood cuts without relying on color, while mint outlines and coral crosshatching show valid and invalid placements.

Why this mechanic works in a short session

Block Bits gives every move a clean result: a piece fits, a line disappears, or the board becomes tighter. Grain Goals add one visible objective without changing legal placements or the base score. The first unmodified Daily result is kept comparable; later attempts are clearly labeled practice, and rewarded ads never alter that score.

Three ways to play

Endless is the open high-score run. Daily Workshop uses the same deterministic UTC piece sequence for every player. Challenges contain 10 Apprentice, 10 Joiner, and 10 Master boards with fixed trays, move caps, solution hashes, instant restart, hints, and one local undo.
